Brad Pitt finally shed some light on why he took a hilarious dig at Bradley Cooper’s Maestro over its Oscar losses.
The Troy star, who is a longtime friend of Bradley, opened up about their longtime friendship and heaped praise on the actor’s second directorial debut.
During an appearance on latest episode of New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce podcast, Pitt also praised the Leonard Bernstein biopic for being one of the best movies of the 2020s.
The Ocean’s Eleven actor implied that an Academy Award for Cooper is even long overdue.
For the unversed, Maestro was nominated for seven Oscars including Best Picture, Best Actress for Carey Mulligan, and Best Actor for Cooper.
Elsewhere on the podcast, “I have a confession: I’m friends with Bradley Cooper.”
“He was getting an award for ‘Maestro,’ [which] is still probably one of the best movies of this decade,” continued the 61-year-old.
Pitt continued, “I was giving him this award and he’s been nominated like 18 times for the Oscars.”
Therefore, this time, the Fight Club actor mentioned, “I closed with, at the Santa Barbara Film Awards, ‘Listen, he’s been nominated the 19,000th time. You know, if he doesn’t get it, it’s OK. He’s used to it.
On the other hand, Cooper has actually received 12 Oscar nominations in his career.
Pitt recounted a joke he made while presenting Cooper with an honour earlier this year.
“I told the crowd, ‘He’s used to it. He’s a Philadelphia Eagles fan,” quipped the Mr And Mrs Smith actor.
Meanwhile, Cooper mentioned that he would prefer the Eagles taking home the Super Bowl trophy to getting an Oscar.
