Nicholas Hoult breaks silence on Beast role in 'Avengers: Doomsday'
Nicholas Hoult clears the air on returning as Beast in Marvel’s 'Avengers: Doomsday'
Nicholas Hoult addressed return of the Beast in upcoming Marvel's most anticipated film, Avengers: Doomsday.
After Kelsey Grammer, who portrayed Hank McCoy/Beast in 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand, Hoult was then cast as the younger version of the mutant, starting with 2011's X-Men: First Class.
However, earlier this year when the star studded cast of Doomsday was announced, only Grammer was of part of the list.
When asked if Hoult, who's now playing iconic DC Comics villain Lex Luthor in Superman, had talks with Marvel about returning as Beast, he told the Entertainment Weekly, "No."
Sharing his reaction over the big reveal, he added, "Kelsey was a great Beast. He was the Beast I saw when I was a kid, along with the other actors that they're bringing back, Patrick [Stewart] and Ian [McKellen] and James [Marsden] and all them."
"Those were the characters that I got to watch in X-Men movies," Hoult continued. "I'm excited to see what they do with it. It'll be fun to see how they incorporate those characters into that world."
Avengers: Doomsday is currently filming in the U.K. and is slated to release on December 18, 2026.
