Penn Badgley, Meghann Fahy bring romantic comedy to life

Amazon MGM has greenlit a new romantic comedy, You Deserve Each Other, based on the novel by Sarah Hogle. 

The film will star Penn Badgley and Meghann Fahy as Naomi and Nick, a couple on the brink of marriage who secretly try to sabotage each other's wedding plans.

The movie follows the story of Naomi and Nick, who have fallen out of love despite their impending nuptials. As the wedding pressure mounts, they engage in a series of pranks, sabotage, and emotional warfare to try and get out of the marriage. 

However, as expected, they eventually fall back in love.

The film will be directed by Marc Silverstein and Abby Kohn, who have written several successful rom-coms, including Never Been Kissed and He's Just Not That Into You. 

They will also revise the script, which was initially written by Brett Haley and Marc Basch.

Penn Badgley, known for his roles in Gossip Girl and You, will star alongside Meghann Fahy, who has appeared in The White Lotus and Sirens. 

Fahy has received critical acclaim for her performances, including an Emmy nomination for her role in The White Lotus.

The film will be produced by Fifth Season, alongside Anthony Bregman and Peter Cron of Likely Story. The novel You Deserve Each Other was a two-time Goodreads Choice Awards nominee and an Amazon Editors' Pick for best romance.
