James Gunn breaks silence on ‘Wonder Woman’ casting rumour
Hollywood movie-maker opens up about casting Adria Arjona for major DC Universe role
James Gunn has recently broken silence on Wonder Woman casting rumours.
In a new interview with Extra, the seasoned movie-maker addressed fans’ speculations on casting Hit Man star Adria Arjona for the major DC Universe role.
The rumour started after James, who is also the co-head of DC Studios, followed her on Instagram.
“I follow Adria on Instagram, but everybody came out and thought, ‘He just followed her, that means she’s Wonder Woman,’” said the Suicide Squad director.
James told the outlet, “She’d be a great Wonder Woman, by the way.”
However, the movie-maker revealed that Adria was in a movie that he made seven years ago titled The Belko Experiment back in 2016.
“We’ve been friends and have known each other since that time,” continued the 58-year-old.
James added, “I followed her then; I didn’t just follow her. People just notice these things all the time.”
Earlier the director also spoke to Entertainment Weekly and opened up that Wonder Woman movie is in development at DC.
“Wonder Woman's a separate thing,” said James at the time.
But the director mentioned, “We're working on Wonder Woman and it's being written right now.”
Meanwhile, James also confirmed that he had not yet cast the role of Wonder Woman.
