'Final Destination: Bloodlines' director admits changing 'original ending' last minute
Adam Stein shares rare insight about the popular gore movie
Final Destination 6 had a typical ending as of the previous films which many thought was not a good idea.
The ending showed Stefani Lewis and Charlie Reyes dying after getting smashed under the train debris.
Co-director Adam Stein opened that they “explored every different possibility” in the early drafts to conclude the movie on a different note this time.
He told Screen Rant, "I think one of the early drafts of the script ended with Stefani making it inside the cabin and basically ended with her, that she's going to live the rest of her life in the cabin to protect Charlie.”
Stefani could have been the new Iris just like her grandmother. But the makers also thought that the original ending "kind of emotionally made sense", but it wouldn’t have been enjoyable.
"So it's a lot of tricky things to balance there. But yeah, we definitely explored lots of possibilities”, said Stein.
Final Destination: Bloodlines turned out to be one of the blockbusters at the box office this year.
It also featured the veteran Tony Todd, marking as his farewell role before his death.
