'Inception' actress Marion Cotillard, Guillaume Canet part ways
Marion Cotillard, Guillaume Canet split after 18 years together
Marion Cotillard and Guillaume Canet have separated after staying together for 18 years.
The 49-year-old and the 52-year-old shared their split news with their fans Friday, June 27.
The estranged couple’s reps gave a joint statement to the Agence France-Presse news agency.
“After 18 years together, Marion Cotillard and Guillaume Canet have decided to separate by mutual agreement,” the translated version of the statement read. “This decision was made with mutual goodwill.”
The couple mentioned that the reason for making an official statement regarding their breakup is to avoid ‘all speculation, rumors and risky interpretations’.
The Inception actress and the French filmmaker also requested through the press release shared with the French outlet that with being ‘transparent’ about their split, the two hope that ‘their private lives’ including their children’s lives would be ‘respected’.
For the unversed, the couple first acted together in 2003 in Love Me If You Dare and then in 2009 in The Last Flight. They began dating together in 2007. The duo shares a son and a daughter: Marcel (13) and Louise (8).
Before getting into a relationship with each other, Canet was previously married to Diane Kruger, and her marriage with him lasted from 2001 to 2006.
