Brad Pitt praises Lewis Hamilton for making ‘F1’ possible
Brad Pitt share details about his experience of developing story with Lewis Hamilton
Brad Pitt credited Lewis Hamilton for playing a vital role in developing the vision for their upcoming movie, F1.
Just as Pitt is an Academy Award winner and one of the most attractive men in Hollywood, Hamilton is a sports legend, renowned as seven-time world Formula 1 world champion.
During a sit down on Entertainment Weekly with his co-stars, Javier Bardem, Damson Idris, and Kerry Condon to discuss their new film, Pitt acknowledged Hamilton's involvement in making a promising film.
"I don't think we could have done this movie without Lewis Hamilton," Pitt admitted.
"When [director] Joe [Kosinski] had the idea, I want to put actors in cars on real tracks and embed ourselves into the pinnacle of the sport, he knew he had to get someone to guide us, to open those doors, to keep us honest and his first call was to Lewis," added the Troy star.
The high-octane film featured scenes of Pitt and Idris behind the wheels, showcasing their driving skills in an intense real-life race sequence.
The production team filmed around the globe at actual Grand Prix races, immersing themselves in the world of the sport.
Filming the race scenes were only made possible when Hamilton decided to take shooting under his wings.
"Lewis jumped in and we were going to race weekends," says Pitt. "He opened the doors, set us up with all the team principals and the drivers."
The Once Upon a Time in Hollywood actor continued, "We had meeting upon meeting as they were trying to develop the story. Then he would sit with us and we had one 12-hour meeting in London where we were just throwing s--- at him. 'How about this? How about that?' And he would tell us and describe his experience."
Pitt plays a retired F1 driver, Sonny Hayes, making a comeback, while Idris portrays a young team mate, Joshua Pearce, who faces pressure of sharing spotlight with legendary racer.
F1 is set to premiere on June 27.
