Daisy Edgar-Jones is set to star in a new book-to-screen adaptation following her role in Where the Crawdads Sings.
The Normal People actress will play Elinor Dashwood in Jane Austin’s Sense and Sensibility.
The Twisters star took to her Instagram to share the news, posting a selfie with the worn-out book and adding eyes emoji as a caption.
Soon after the announcement, fans flooded her comment section expressing their delight and excitement on her playing the role.
"MISS DAISY EDGAR JONES PLAYING A JANE AUSTEN LEADING LADY?!?! [crying emoji]," one fan wrote.
Another commented, "Yessss Daisy! Can’t wait for this to be a comfort watch already! [white heart emoji]."
"Daisy Edgar-employed," joked a third commenter.
The synopsis of the adaptation as per the People magazine reads, "The timeless exploration of restraint and passion follows sisters Elinor (Edgar-Jones, 27) and Marianne Dashwood, opposites in their emotional approach, as they navigate love, loss and financial uncertainty amid the societal expectations of 18th century England."
It continues, "Celebrated for its wit, deep social insights and enduring cultural relevance, the novel launched the bright career of one of history’s greatest authors."
Sense and Sensibility, which was first published in 1811, has been adapted for the screen multiple times over the years.
Its most famous adaptation was filmed in 1995 by Ang Lee, starring Emma Thompson and late Alan Rickman.
As for the new Sense and Sensibility directed by Georgia Oakley, its further casting and release date has not been announced yet.
