Kate Hudson joins ranks of Tom Cruise, Greta Gerwig, and other legends with prestigious new title
Kate Hudson is set to be celebrated with one of the most distinguished honours.
The Almost Famous star has been named as the recipient of this year's Pioneer of the Year Award by the Will Rogers Motion Pictures Pioneers Foundation, joining a rare group of actresses who have been feted with the prestigious title
Hudson, who is the daughter of singer Bill Hudson and actress Goldie Hawn, will receive the accolade during the foundation's annual dinner on October 8 at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.
Lisa Bunnell, president of the Will Rogers Foundation and head of distribution at Focus Features, praised the multifaceted celebrity for her wide-ranging impact.
"Kate Hudson's influence extends beyond her outstanding contributions to the motion picture business. Her commitment to philanthropy and social causes inspires audiences everywhere to be active in their communities and support each other in times of need," she stated.
The Pioneer of the Year Award, which has been presented for over 75 years, honours individuals in the motion picture industry whose professional accomplishments are matched by a deep commitment to community service and charitable work.
Hudson, an award-winning actress, producer, singer, and entrepreneur, joins a short list of women who have earned the distinction.
Last year, filmmaker Greta Gerwig received the award, becoming only the second female director to do so after Elizabeth Banks
