Johnny Depp breaks silence on people calling his return as 'comeback'
'The Tourist' star to feature in 'Day Drinker' with Penelope Cruz
Johnny Depp’s return to the big screen has been continuously regarded as his "comeback".
In 2022, Depp was completely invested in the case filed by his ex-wife Amber Heard, who claimed that the former had allegedly abused her verbally and physically while they were married.
Now that the case is over, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor is all set to return to Hollywood with his first big role in Day Drinker.
While commenting on his “comeback” in Hollywood, the 62-year-old has said that he didn’t go anywhere. He even confessed that if he had the chance to split, he would have never returned.
“My comeback? Honestly? I didn’t go anywhere. If I had the chance to split, I would never come back”, Johnny said in conversation with The Times.
For the unversed, the Alice in Wonderland star also spoke on the matter in his first appearance at Cannes Film Festival in 2023 after the high-profile case.
He said, “I keep wondering about the word ‘comeback’ because I didn’t go anywhere, matter of fact I live 45 minutes away.”
“Maybe people stopped calling out of whatever their fear was at the time.”
Depp will be returning in film Day Drinker alongside Penelope Cruz. Meanwhile, he also has The Carnival at the End of Days in the pipeline.
