Lee Byung-hun opens up about his son reaction to his role in ‘Squid Game’
Squid Game star Lee Byung-hun opened up about the challenges he faced while playing the negative role.
Byung-hun, known for his role in the Netflix hit series as The Front Man, shared his 10-year-old son reaction on finding out about his ruthless character.
In an appearance at The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, while talking about his son and 18-month-old daughter, he said, "They're not supposed to watch Squid Game."
The South Korean actor, who was praised for his spectacular acting in the TV series, went on to explain that he didn’t receive the same acknowledgement back home.
Byung-hun said that his son learned about the terrible Front Man from one of his school friends. "One day, he looked really sad and asked me, 'Why are you so mean?'" he recalled.
On asking the reason, his son said, "'You killed a lot of people.'"
It turns out, his son was especially upset about a scene involving T.O.P, the actor who played Thanos in Squid Game 2.
"My son was very close to him," Byung-hun explained. "He asked me, 'Why did you hit him so bad, Dad?'"
Trying to explain, Byung-hun told his son, "I’m an actor," but admitted, "I think he doesn’t understand 100 per cent."
Fallon nodded and laughed, adding, "No, good for him. He should be a 10-year-old!"
Byung-hun will be reprising his role as the enigmatic Front Man for Squid Game season three which is slated for release on June 27, 2025.
