Sydney Sweeney opened up about training herself on how to be like an addict who has reached the point of return for the new film Echo Valley.
Sweeney stars as a drug addict Clair in the gripping psychological drama where she finds herself in trouble when her reckless actions trigger a spiralling crisis, bursting into her mother’s Kate (Juliana Moore) quite rural life shaken, bloodied and desperate.
In conversation with Variety, the Euphoria star revealed how she explored and rehearsed the role.
"I watched a lot of videos. There’s a YouTube series of this guy that interviews people on Skid Row that have struggled with addiction and are [still] currently," she said.
"I watched a lot of them and drew from different stories that they would tell or mannerisms that they have," Sweeney added.
The Anyone But You actress also shared her process of organic preparation instead of being led by structured script.
Sweeney revealed that sometimes she let her emotions flow naturally, saying, "I don’t know if that’s great, but for me, it’s like, you don’t really rehearse a conversation that you’re gonna have. Like, I didn’t rehearse things out."
She continued, "I kind of like being able to see whatever’s gonna happen, happen. It’s really exciting. And then you can learn in the process and discover new things."
