Will Smith opens up about viral Chris Rock moment from Oscars 2022
Will Smith reflected on his viral Oscars moment with Chris Rock where he struck him across the face at the stage.
The 56-year-old actor revealed that he had to deal with huge consequences of the much-talked about moment which sparked global backlash.
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star opened up about slapping the singer after he joked about his his wife Jada Pinkett Smith's shaved head, which was because of her alopecia diagnosis, on Radio 1Xtra with host Remi Burgz.
“Finding that way to be with my own humanity - be able to not be perfect but be human and find a higher power in my humanity that I found in my constellation of ideas of perfection that we called Will Smith. The fullness of who I am to allow that to be better than Will Smith,” Will told the host of the incident.
“Allowing that to grow into a higher perfection than the imagery of Will Smith is where I am as an artist and human right now,” he added of the scandal that resulted in a 10-year ban.
The incident happened during the 2022 Oscars while Chris was presenting the award for Best Documentary.
As he presented on stage, Chris joked about Jada's shaved head, comparing her to Demi Moore's look in the 1997 film G.I. Jane.
Hearing the offensive joke, Wil jumped at the stage and hit Chris with a slap.
