Dave Bautista is in consideration to step into the world of Road House 2, joining the highly anticipated sequel that continues the story of the hit Prime Video action film.
The sequel follows on the heels of the successful Road House reboot, which starred Jake Gyllenhaal and broke records for the streaming platform earlier this year.
Bautista’s casting brings fresh excitement as fans look forward to seeing how he fits into the next chapter of the franchise.
While plot details for Road House 2 are being kept under wraps for now, Deadline reported that the film will continue the gritty, high-octane action and intense drama that made the first installment a standout.
The first film was directed by Doug Liman, but the second one may be helmed by Guy Ritchie. Jake Gyllenhaal is also on board to reprise his role as Elwood Dalton, the former UFC fighter turned bar bouncer who became the unlikely hero in the original reboot.
According to Deadline, the first Road House became Prime Video’s most-watched original movie debut, with audiences around the world tuning in. That success paved the way for the sequel, and the addition of Bautista signals that the studio is aiming to deliver even bigger action sequences and more powerful performances.
Amazon MGM Studios will once again produce the film. Joel Silver, who produced both the original 1989 Road House and the 2024 reboot, returns as producer for the sequel as well.
Bautista, who has proven his acting range in films like Dune, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Knock at the Cabin, seems like a fitting choice to bring more muscle and depth to the franchise.
Road House 2 will stream exclusively on Prime Video, though a release date has yet to be announced. Fans can expect production to kick off later this year, with more details about the storyline and additional cast likely to follow soon.
