Damson Idris teases new Marvel role amid ‘F1’ success
Damson Idris fuels rumours of starring in hit Marvel movie
Damson Idris, after performing in star-studded F1 film along with Brad Pitt, has set his eyes on of the MCU’s beloved role.
Idris addressed the surging speculations regarding him taking on the role of T’Challa, famously played by Chadwick Boseman, in upcoming Black Panther 3.
In an appearance at the Today show, Outside the Wire star played a game where he had to answer a series of 'yes or no' questions about what he’s got coming up next in his career.
"There’s some speculation out there in the universe that you could be cast as the next Black Panther," co-anchor Craig Melvin said. "Have you had any conversations about that? Yes or no?"
Idris remained coyly replied, "Yes-no!"
The host, however, went on to further investigate, teasing the 33-year-old actor saying that "yes-no" mostly means "yes" to which Idris replied, "Uh, it could mean no!"
But "it probably means yes," Melvin said. He added, "If they asked, would you say yes?"
Idris didn’t hesitate with his response as he immediately said, "Yes."
Rumours about Marvel potentially re-casting T’Challa first began in January, when The InSneider reported that MCU was considering the idea despite the previously stating that they would not recast the role following Boseman’s death.
Black Panther 3 producer Nate Moore later in February, stated that he couldn’t confirm or deny whether or not they were "open to recasting" the role of T’Challa until they had solidified the film’s storyline.
While the news of Black Panther 3 is yet to be confirmed, Idris’ new film F1 is set to premier in theatres on June 27.
