Prince Louis makes unexpected style statement at Trooping the Colour
His choice of trousers marked a noticeable change from his past Trooping the Colour appearances
Prince Louis made headlines at this year's Trooping the Colour by opting for trousers instead of the traditional shorts usually worn by young aristocratic boys.
The seven-year-old was seen departing the Buckingham Palace in a carriage along with their mother, the Princess of Wales, brother Prince George, and sister Princess Charlotte.
The siblings were among the many royals participating in the grand celebrations for King Charles's official birthday on 14th June.
However, his choice of trousers marked a noticeable change from his past Trooping the Colour appearances, where he was seen in classic shorts and knew-high socks, following long-standing royal tradition.
Historically, British aristocracy has favoured shorts for young boys, with the transition to trousers only happening after their eighth birthday.
Interestingly, Louis first wore trousers in public at the tender age of two when he attended a Christmas pantomime in December 2020-signalling an early departure from this conversation.
This early shift in wardrobe differs from that of Prince George, who adhered to the shorts tradition until he was five, before sporting chinos for the family's 2018 Christmas portrait.
Since then, Louis has continued to don trousers at several prominent events, including Christmas Day church services and VE Day commemorations.
