Brad Garrett talks about chances of truth in ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’ reboot rumours
Brad Garrett shot down rumors about a reboot of Everybody Loves Raymond, telling PEOPLE at the Elio premiere on June 10, 2025, “There won’t be,” and confirming the beloved sitcom will not return to television.
The key reason: the passing of Peter Boyle and Doris Roberts, who played Ray Barone’s parents and were central to the show.
Rumors of a return for the Barone family had circulated online earlier, but Garrett made it clear that without the parental duo, “There is no show without the parents”,their absence would fundamentally alter the dynamic viewers loved.
The rumours started on social media and entertainment blogs, fueled by fans ults longing for more family-centered comedy.
Deadline even featured a cryptic post on X (formerly Twitter), quoting Garrett under the headline, “Brad Garrett On Why A Reboot Of 'Everybody Loves Raymond' Won't Happen: 'Wouldn't Be Right To The Audiences'”, which sparked further debate.
Beyond the reboot chatter, Garrett praised the original run, which aired on CBS from September 1996 to May 2005 and earned 15 Emmy Awards.
He expressed gratitude for having been part of such a cherished family comedy and recognized that a revival without the full original cast could feel incomplete.
Co-star Patricia Heaton, meanwhile, offered her support for keeping the series in its original vintage form, telling Entertainment Weekly earlier this year that “You don’t wanna mess with perfection” and backing the decision not to revive the show without its iconic characters.
While a reboot may be off the table, Everybody Loves Raymond continues to thrive on streaming platforms. All 210 episodes remain available through Peacock and Paramount+, and Ray Romano recently rediscovered the episodes, revisiting them for the first time since the finale aired.
