Emily Blunt reflects on growing up with stuttering at the American Institute Gala
Emily Blunt has recently opened up about her struggles with stuttering.
Speaking to E! News at the American Institute For Stuttering 19th Annual Gala, the Edge of Tomorrow actress said she still gets “nervous” and “very stressed”.
“My speech will be affected still… So, people will meet me and go,” remarked the 42-year-old.
Emily told the outlet, “You would never know but I have learned a lot over the years how to substitute words that are easier.”
“When you don’t have a family like AIS, then you feel really lonely and you can feel very isolated because it does freeze up your voice and you don’t want to share your story,” explained the Oppenheimer actress.
The reason, people with stuttering problem cannot share who they are as it “misrepresents” them and that “makes it very lonely”.
Therefore, Emily stated, “I think what I wish we could do is take the stigma out of it.”
Earlier in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actress also revealed exciting update on Devil Wears Prada sequel.
Emily added that the filming for the movie will begin in July and it will release in theatres on May 1, 2026.
