David Harbour gets honest about ‘Stranger Things’ ending
David Harbour opens up about the completion of hit Netflix show
David Harbour has recently revealed how he feels about the completion of Stranger Things show after 10 years.
Speaking with Scarlett Johansson for Interview Magazine, the Asteroid City actress asked David his views on the ending of the hit Netflix series.
“When I started, I loved it so much,” said the 50-year-old.
David mentioned that his buddies, who’d done TV shows for many years, thought that he would run by season three or four.
But the Hellboy actor replied, “I was like, ‘Never! I love all these guys so much.’”
However, David noted that he reached a point where he questioned how much longer the series could go on.
“You get to a certain point where you’re like, ‘How much more story is there?’ You’re having to play a lot of the same beat,” explained the Suicide Squad actor.
David further said that there’s “a feeling where you’re like, ‘I want to take a risk. I want to do something that people haven’t seen me do before.’”
“So yeah, after 10 years, it’s like, ‘Okay,’” added the actor.
Elsewhere in the discussion, David agreed with Scarlett who believed that being committed to “one character limits your flexibility as your identity is wrapped up in this job for a long time”.
“It’s the same thing with this show. There’d be certain seasons where you feel like, ‘I’m going to go in this different direction,’” continued the War of the Worlds actor.
However, David reflected, “A piece of your psyche is occupied with this group of people and this storyline.”
“I don’t paint my nails, but I get that idea of ‘I can’t get a haircut’ or ‘I can’t shave this freaking mustache,’” he concluded.
