Nicole Scherzinger made her Broadway debut count as she won a huge honour for her leading role in the musical Sunset Blvd.
The former Pussycat Dolls singer won her first-ever Tony Award on Sunday night (June 9), taking home Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical for her haunting turn as Norma Desmond.
The win came right after Scherzinger, 46, stunned the crowd with a powerful rendition of As If We Never Said Goodbye, earning a standing ovation at Radio City Music Hall.
“I just have to thank God for carrying me every step of the way. I give you all the glory,” she began, choking up as she fought back tears.
The former X Factor judge went on to thank the Tony Awards “for making this little Hawaiian-Ukrainian-Filipino girl’s dream come true.“ She also honoured her mother, who “gave everything up for me” after having her at 18.
Scherzinger also praised her fellow nominees, calling them “exceptional warrior women,” and gave a heartfelt nod to fiancé Thom Evans, saying he “believes in me when I forget to believe in myself.”
She further thanked Sunset Blvd. composer Andrew Lloyd Webber and reflected on how much the role has meant to her personally.
“Growing up, I always felt like I didn’t belong,” she said. “So if there is anyone who feels like they don’t belong or your time hasn’t come, don’t give up… This is a testament that love always wins.”
Scherzinger joined the Broadway production in October 2024 after leading the revival in London.
