George Clooney shares why wife Amal is thrilled his Broadway run is over

George Clooney's wife is thrilled his Broadway run is over.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly and People magazine at the 2025 Tony Awards red carpet on Sunday, June 8, the Oscar-winning actor revealed that his wife, Amal Clooney, was more than ready for his black-dyed hair to go.
“Oh man, my wife was the happiest person when I came home after the play today and I'd cut all the hair off,” said Clooney, 64. “Because, you know, I looked like a drug dealer with that bad black dye job.”
The 64-year-old actor recently wrapped his stint in Good Night, and Good Luck, the stage adaptation of his 2005 film, which ran at New York’s Winter Garden Theatre. Clooney co-wrote the script and played legendary journalist Edward R. Murrow — complete with dark hair to match the role.
But Amal, 47, wasn’t a fan of the transformation. During a June 2 appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Clooney admitted she called the look “funny” and confessed she’d “be glad when it’s gone.”
He added, “It looks like [I’m] going through some horrible midlife crisis. I’m 64 — midlife is a little stretch.”
The show made history before closing, airing its penultimate performance live on CNN — a first for Broadway. Clooney and his team took their final bow on June 9, hours before appearing at the Tony Awards.
Clooney was nominated for Best Actor in a Play for his role, but he lost to Cole Escola.
