'Pride and Prejudice' gets modern audio twist with Marisa Abela, Harris Dickinson
Audible gears up for Jane Austen's 'Pride and Prejudice' new adaptation
Audible has reimagined Jane Austen’s iconic romantic novel Pride and Prejudice in a star-studded new audio adaptation.
Teasing the upcoming project, Aurelie de Troyer, the Head of Regional Content Europe at Audible, said, “Lulu Raczka’s script is thrilling and conveys all of Jane Austen’s energy in an engaging modern way. Through the intimacy of audio, we have the unique ability to make the passion and romance truly electric, and Marisa Abela and Harris Dickinson’s chemistry as Elizabeth and Darcy is undeniable.”
Marisa Abela and Harris Dickinson have been cast as Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy in the upcoming adaptation.
Speaking exclusively about the role, the Back to Black actress expressed pride in portraying Elizabeth.
She said, “It’s an incredible honour. Recording this with such a phenomenal cast and team was a true joy, and I can’t wait for listeners to experience it.”
Meanwhile, the Babygirl actor also reflected on what the iconic role meant to him.
Harris, 28, explained, “An amazing experience. It’s a real privilege to be part of something so timeless.”
Alongside, Marisa and Harris, the adaptation features a star-studded ensemble, including Will Poulter as Mr. Wickham, Jessie Buckley as Caroline Bingley, and Toheeb Jimoh as Mr. Bingley, Glenn Close as Lady Catherine De Bourgh, and more.
The podcast service has partnered with Brock Media for production, with Lulu Raczka writing the script.
The Georgian-set tale centres on the intelligent Elizabeth Benneth and her evolving relationship with the wealthy landowner Mr. Darcy.
Pride and Prejudice, directed by Dionne Edwards, is set to premiere on September 9 in the UK, US, Canada, India, and Australia.
