Andrew Garfield to star with girlfriend Monica Barbaro in upcoming film?

Andrew Garfield is in talks to share the screen with his rumoured girlfriend, Monica Barbaro.

Potentially helmed by director Luca Guadagnino, Artificial is an upcoming Amazon MGM Studios film, with deals still in the works.

However, according to Deadline, insiders divulged that the Amazing Spider-Man star, the A Complete Unknown actress, and Anora actor Yura Borisov are in negotiations to join the star-studded ensemble.

Though not officially confirmed, sources suggest that the film chronicles the 2023 turmoil at artificial intelligence company OpenAI, during which CEO Sam Altman was abruptly fired and rehired after a few days.

Written by Simon Rich, the new film on the horizon will be produced by David Heyman from Heyday Films and Jeffrey Clifford. In addition, Jennifer Fox might also contribute as a producer.

Given that Garfield and Barbaro have not previously worked together on any film or television project, this would mark their first on-screen collaboration.

Additionally, Artificial will hold significance as the rumoured couple’s debut project since sparking romance rumours earlier this year.

Garfield and Barbaro were first linked in February 2025 after being spotted together at a play.
