Buckingham Palace confirms key joint task for Prince William, Duchess Sophie
Kate Middleton notably skips key royal event as Prince William, Duchess Sophie team up
King Charles’s Office revealed that Prince William and Duchess Sophie will be joining forces for an important royal engagement on behalf of the monarch.
On Friday, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Edinburgh will be travelling to Wadebridge in Cornwall to attend the annual show which dates back to over 200 years. It is a popular event which began in 1793 and has about 120,000 visitors every year.
William is a patron of the Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association along with Sophie, who is also the Vice President of RCAA.
The two royals are expected to visit the Royal Cornwall Food and Farming Pavilion to sample food and drinks made across Cornwall, including Cornish cheeses, jams, and preserves, as well as gins and other spirits. Notably, Kate Middleton will not be joining her husband and his aunt during the royal engagement.
William – inherited the title Duke of Cornwall in 2022 from his father after his ascension – will also be visiting the Duchy of Cornwall hub to promote mental health charities including Pentreath Cornwall Rural Community Charity, Georgia's Voice, Kooth, Man Down, PAPRUS and Sunrise.
Meanwhile, Sophie will be making a visit to her own patronages including LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming) and the Girl Guides. She will also stop by to see the show’s cattle and the countryside area.
This will not be the first time the future king will be appearing with his aunt. The duo previously stepped out in June 2023 for The Royal Foundation’s screening of Rhino Man, a documentary about wildlife rangers.
