‘Anora’ director Sean Baker opens up about his approach for next film
Sean Baker share an update on what he might have planned for his next project
Sean Baker, the record-breaking Oscar-winning director, revealed his plans for the new project following the remarkable success of Anora.
Baker also discussed about the difference between his independent films and non-independent ones like Marvel franchise.
In the latest podcast episode of The Hollywood Reporter’s It Happened in Hollywood, The Florida Project director spoke about his next project, saying, "I'm not sure yet. I’m still exploring some ideas."
"Don't expect a Marvel film," he said. "It's not going to happen. I’m intentionally going to stay in the same wheelhouse and with the approximate same budget."
Baker further explained, "I think that I enjoy working in this space of 100 percent independent."
According to outlet, Marvel is a fertile breeding ground for indie filmmakers who seek to make the leap to bigger budgets and studio franchise films.
Meanwhile, Baker emphasised, "I’m not working for even a mini studio. I'm making my film independently and then going the old school route of hopefully a bidding war or somebody licensing the movie."
Explaining his reasoning, he said, "It is the only way to have full autonomy and control over your vision."
In addition to Baker receiving four Oscars in one night, other Academy Awards included Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress for Mikey Madison And Best Original Screenplay.
