'Happy Gilmore' star Julie Bowen recalls awkward encounter with Bad Bunny during sequel shooting
Julie Bowen had a full-blown fangirl meltdown after running into Bad Bunny on the set of Happy Gilmore 2.
The Modern Family alum admitted she was so overwhelmed by the Puerto Rican rapper’s presence that she couldn’t even make eye contact, and things only got more awkward from there.
"Seeing Bad Bunny on set I was just like, 'Oh, I can’t actually look you in the eye, I’m going to have to walk away,' and I did," she told The Hollywood Reporter. "I think he was offended, and I had to circle back and now I made it worse."
"I’m the kind of person who doesn’t want to meet her heroes because I think I’m just going to be a jackass," the actress, who played Virginia Venit, Adam Sandler’s character Happy’s love interest in Happy Gilmore, explained to the outlet during the Netflix’s Tudum event on Saturday, May 31.
During the thrilling event, the official teaser for Happy Gilmore 2 was dropped, teasing the return of familiar faces alongside new additions, including Benny Safdie, Eminem, Kym Whitley, Margaret Qualley, and Taylor Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce.
Among them, Bowen revealed she is a Bad Bunny superfan and was particularly excited to have him on set but left a cringe impression.
