Emma Watson’s father opened up about how fame can effect young lives in Hollywood as the new young cast for Harry Potter HBO series was announced earlier this week.
Watson, who played Hermione in the original film series, was only 10 years old when she stepped foot in showbiz, filming Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
In conversation with the Radio Times, the Little Women star’s father recalled how hard he worked to keep Watson "grounded."
"As a parent, you have to be scared. This can be a very difficult thing for a parent and child to handle, or not," he told the outlet.
He continued, "It certainly helped that I don’t actually watch movies, it’s not a big thing in the house, and so it was easier for us to keep her feet on the ground."
"Normal life continued as far as possible: her homework would go back to school on motorbikes, admittedly, but she had to do her homework and check in," the Beauty and The Beast actress’s father added.
For the unversed, HBO announced the young cast of Harry Potter series on May 27, with Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasely.
The series is set to begin filming in summer with planned release in 2026.
