Ricky Gervais has recently shared honest reaction to receiving a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame.
After being honoured with a star, the comedian spoke to Extra and said, “I had to sit through all these people saying lovely things about me and my career. And I don’t know what to do except laugh nervously but I got through it.”
The Office alum also remembered his late mother at this time, saying, “It’s crazy… the first thing is I think about my mum what she would have said if she was alive.”
“It would have been mind-blowing… she was proud of me when I passed my exams… So, this would be off the charts,” mentioned the 63-year-old.
For the unversed, Ricky is famous for his string of stand-up comedy specials and for his ruthless tips at A-list guests while hosting the Golden Globe Awards on five occasions.
During the ceremony, the After Life actor seemingly also hinted at conquering cancel culture, per Entertainment Weekly.
“I'd love to claim that it was due to my unrivaled genius, but truth be told, it's a cocktail of luck, persistence, and a little bit of pushing against the tide,” stated the British star while speaking of his success.
Interestingly, the Derek actor explained, “Many people hate you as well as love you… But the ones that hate you shouldn't affect you. The ones that love you, they buy your house!”
Ricky pointed out that they have had a few weird years of cancel culture, adding, “People telling you what you can and can't laugh at or talk about, but we pushed back, and we won. Until the next time.”
