Ana de Armas shares honest thoughts on singing onscreen for ‘Eden’
Ana de Armas opens up about singing for new movie, ‘Eden’
Ana de Armas has recently revealed she hated singing onscreen for Ron Howard’s survival movie, Eden.
“I hated it,” said the Ghosted actress during Hot Ones show
Ana recalled talking to director Ron when she asked for singing and asked him to lip sync the song.
The actress told the director, “’This is not for me.’ And he just didn’t want to hear it. He was like ‘no, you’re singing. You’re singing.’”
“If you do it bad, it’s good for the character.’ And I’m like ‘yeah but people don’t know that,’” she continued.
Ana mentioned she just couldn’t convince her director to let her “lip sync so I had to learn the song”.
“It was horrible. I was terrified,” she admitted.
Ana pointed out that she would rather do 100 stunts than sing that song.
“It was terrifying because it’s also in front of all the actors. I just felt very exposed and vulnerable and it’s not one of my talents for sure,” added the Ballerina star.
Earlier, speaking to Vanity Fair, Ana opened up that working in Eden pushed her to get to her “craziest” self on screen.
“I got a little scared, and I told the director I was nervous because it was really out there,” said the Deep Water actress after joining Eden.
Meanwhile, Ana stated, “Ron was very supportive and excited. There was no question I wanted to do it. I wanted the challenge.”
