Jenne Ortega faces backlash over her Wednesday fame comments
Jenna Ortega’s comments spark heated response from her fans online
Jenna Ortega has recently faced backlash over her Wednesday fame.
The Miller’s Girl actress has explained how her Netflix show changed her life in a latest interview with Harper’s Bazaar.
“To be quite frank, after the show and trying to figure everything out, I was an unhappy person,” said the 22-year-old.
Jenna told the outlet, “After the pressure, the attention – as somebody who’s quite introverted, that was so intense and so scary.”
The Scream VI actress explained how online negativity impacted her mentally.
“I feel like being a bully is very popular right now,” she remarked.
Jenna noted, “Having been on the wrong side of the rumour mill was incredibly eye-opening.”
The Beetlejuice Beetlejuice actress also explained that she’s ready to evolve and take on more adult and creative work.
“I’m very grateful for my audience,” she further said.
Jenna continued, “And I want to be able to give back to them. But I also want to do things that are creatively fulfilling to me.”
The actress’ comments fueled a heated response online as one wrote, “Cry me a river.”
Another remarked, “So sick of people complaining about easy jobs they made millions on.”
“I bet the huge 6 and 7 figure paychecks she took for the role weren’t that patronising though,” chimed in a third user.
Other user added, “Right? She still cashed those checks.”
Meanwhile, the season two of Wednesday will premiere on Netflix in two parts — the first one hit screen on August 6, followed by the second on September 3.
