Leighton Meester made rare comments on why she and Adam Brody secretly tied the knot in 2014.
Meester and Brody, who are known for their work in Gossip Girl and The O.C. respectively, love to keep their relationship low-key and away from the spotlights.
In an interview with Bustle magazine, the That’s My Boy star revealed that she didn’t even want a wedding because she was worried that their ceremony would feel like a spectacle or a production.
"On sets and in life, I’ve been able to wear a fancy dress and hit a mark and say lines, and I didn’t want it to feel like that," she said, adding, "I wanted it to feel intimate and private."
Meester got married to Brody on February 15, 2014, in a private wedding in Northern California.
A source told the People magazine at that time that, "She's very happy. She has a lovely ring. She likes [it] a lot."
Staying true to the mutual decision of keeping their relationship private, the couple have kept most details of their big day secret.
The lovebirds, who first worked together in 2011 on the set of The Oranges, revealed they were dating in February 2013.
Over the years, they welcomed two children, a daughter, Arlo, born in 2015, and a son, whose name has not been revealed, born in 2020.
