Lindsay Lohan has made a strong comeback in Hollywood, thanks in large part to her recent run of successful romantic comedies on Netflix, but she doesn't seem to be wanting to stay on the same path.
Over the past three years, she starred in three holiday-themed films for the platform, Falling for Christmas in 2022, followed by Irish Wish and Our Little Secret in 2024.
Each movie debuted at the top of the Netflix film charts, signaling just how much audiences were excited to see Lohan back on screen.
The most recent release, Our Little Secret, gave Lohan her biggest streaming debut yet, drawing in 32.4 million views during its first weekend alone. It’s clear that viewers connected with the feel-good stories and Lohan’s charm, helping her reestablish her place in the industry.
But even with that success, the actor is now looking to explore beyond streaming movies. In a recent interview with Elle magazine, Lohan opened up about where she sees her career heading next.
“I always want to make movies like that — things that make people happy and bring people together,” she said, referring to her Netflix projects.
“I love making movies for that reason — for people to escape and find something that they can take into their own life and realize everything’s going to be okay. But with Netflix, I was like, ‘Okay, now we need to be thinking about other stuff.’ I can’t do movies like these forever.”
That new direction starts with her return to the big screen. Lohan is gearing up to star in Freakier Friday, the sequel to Disney’s beloved 2003 comedy Freaky Friday. She’ll reunite with her original co-star Jamie Lee Curtis, and the film is set to hit theaters on August 8.
With her Netflix chapter proving both popular and powerful, Lohan seems ready to take the momentum and expand her horizons in film once again.
