Johnny Depp disappointed with people calling 'Day Drinker' his comeback film?
Johnny Depp to reunite with 'Pirates of the Caribbean' co-star for new film
Johnny Depp faced major turmoil due to his legal battle with ex-wife Amber Heard.
In 2022, Heard filed a case against Depp claiming that he abused her mentally and physically throughout their marriage. She further accused him of struggling with substance abuse.
The high-profile case tarnished the 61-year-old star’s reputation and even cost him most popular franchises including the Pirates of the Caribbean and Alice in Wonderland.
Now that Johnny has been cleared of all accusations and came out victorious in the case, he has decided to return to big screens with a new project titled, Day Drinker.
Depp’s return is being commonly termed as his 'comeback', which does not really sound pleasant to the actor himself as he says ‘he didn’t go anywhere’.
While addressing at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, The Tourist actor stated, “I keep wondering about the word ‘comeback’ because I didn’t go anywhere, matter of fact I live 45 minutes away.”
He said while referring to the legal battle, “Maybe people stopped calling out of whatever their fear was at the time.”
“But no, I didn’t go nowhere I’ve been sitting around so comeback is sort of like you know it’s almost like I’m gonna come out and do a tap dance.”
Depp is set to feature in Day Drinker alongside Penélope Cruz.
