Rihanna drops bombshell ahead of London live music comeback announcement
Rihanna's major move days before her concert shows due to be announced
Rihanna has recently dropped bombshell news as she cancelled her much-anticipated live music return days before they were to be announced.
The pop singer had planned a six-concert residency in London in July to relaunch herself as a singer, nine years after her last album, Anti.
A source spilled to The Sun that the Umbrella hit-maker noted that her new music was not ready. Now bosses were trying to convince the singer to change her mind.
A music insider told the outlet, “Rihanna hasn’t toured in over eight years and the plan to get her back on stage has been ongoing for at least three.”
“She had been eager to get back to it because the demand is certainly there, but she got cold feet,” revealed an insider.
The source shared that Rihanna “doesn’t feel like the right time,” when she dropped the bombshell last week, saying, she “didn’t want to go ahead with the concerts in July as had been planned”.
Another music insider added, “The announcement of the shows had already been delayed, but as Rihanna fans are used to doing, they will just have to keep on waiting.”
The news came after multiple sources spoke to The Telegraph last month, explaining, Rihanna was lining up shows at London Stadium for July 4 and 5, with other possible concerts set for July 8, 9, 11 and 12.
Meanwhile, a new insider related to the singer opened up that Rihanna’s promoters are “holding the arena for her, with preparations in the advance planning stages”.
Earlier the singer reportedly confirmed her ninth album was on its way while speaking to Harper’s Bazaar last month.
She also addressed long-running rumours that her new LP would be a reggae album.
“There’s no genre now. That’s why I waited. Every time, I was just like, ‘No, it’s not me. It’s not right. It’s not matching my growth. It’s not matching my evolution. I can’t do this,” clarified the songstress.
Rihanna added, “I cannot put up anything mediocre. After waiting eight years, you might as well just wait some more.'
