PCB sets up photo walls to celebrate cricketing heritage ahead of Champions Trophy

KARACHI: Ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the Pakistan Cricket Board has unveiled photo walls at all four of its venues, celebrating the country's cricketing heritage and key moments in its cricketing history, a PCB spokesperson said on Sunday.

A photo wall at Karachi's National Stadium highlights portraits of Karachi's iconic cricketers and memorable events linked to the venue. Former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed holds a prominent place on the wall, which also features images from Pakistan's Under-19 World Cup victories and the 2017 Champions Trophy triumph under his leadership.

The wall includes notable milestones such as Khalid Ibadullah's debut century for Pakistan at the National Stadium in 1958-59, Naseem-ul-Ghani's century at Lord's in 1962, and Younis Khan's triple century at the National Stadium. Pakistan's memorable win against India in Bengaluru, Mohammad Sami's remarkable bowling spell against India, and the 2004 Under-19 World Cup triumph led by Khalid Latif are also showcased.

Women's cricket is represented with portraits of Kiran Baloch and the women's team's victory at the Asian Games. Cricketing legends including Javed Miandad, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, and Imran Khan are honoured, along with Mohammad brothers, Shoaib Mohammad, Tauseef Ahmed, and Asif Iqbal.

Photo walls have also been installed at Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan stadiums, each commemorating local cricketing heroes and historic moments. The initiative aims to honour the players, their contributions, and unforgettable moments in Pakistan cricket, the PCB spokesperson added.

Images of modern-day stars Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam also feature prominently, alongside Kamran Akmal and Abdul Razzaq's memorable partnership against India, and Inzamam-ul-Haq's century against Bangladesh.

The PCB spokesman said that this initiative not only celebrates Pakistan's cricketing past but also serves as an inspiration for future generations of cricketers.
