Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift's relationship is facing new scrutiny after both experienced significant career setbacks.

On Sunday, Kelce's Kansas City Chiefs lost the Super Bowl 40-22 to the Philadelphia Eagles, dashing their hopes for a historic three-peat.

The NFL athlete had a surprisingly subdued performance, while Swift watched from the stands. To add to the disappointment, Kelce's ex-girlfriend Kayla Nicole was seen celebrating with the Eagles on the field after the game.

The singer's own heartbreak at the Grammys only a week earlier led to his disillusionment. The musical sensation was nominated for Album of the Year, but Beyoncé won the prize with Cowboy Carter.

Swift, like Kelce, failed to repeat a significant victory after winning the coveted award with Midnights the year before.

Some followers think Kelce and Swift are about to reach the most difficult stage of their relationship because they have both experienced failures in their careers.

A TikTok user, started the controversy by posting a video about the shift that went viral.

"Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are about to enter a new phase of their relationship," King said on the app. "Because they have only been with each other when they've been winning. This year, they both lost. She lost Album of the Year and now he just lost the Super Bowl.

"So now they have to be with each other and see that side; see the losing side of Taylor Swift, see the losing side of Travis Kelce. They don't know each other as losers, they only know each other as winners."

One user commented, "Time to see each other for who they really are.

Whilst a second said, "Taylor and Travis will split up after the season for sure. She's not even sitting with Momma Kelce - incoming song about Travis."

And a third noted, "Now watch this offseason: 'Breaking: Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce decide to split.'"
