This high-profile visit underscored Newquay’s commitment to future sustainable initiatives across the UK
The King, Prime Minister, Keir Starmer and Deputy Prime Minister embarked on a joint visit to Newquay, spotlighting the town’s innovative sustainability and community-driven projects.
Their first stop was Newquay Orchard, a thriving community space promoting education, skills training, and environmental awareness.

Next, they visited Nansledan School, an eco-conscious primary school established by the Duchy of Cornwall. With a curriculum centered on sustainability, STEM, and health education, the school fosters hands-on learning experiences.
The leaders observed a PE session, interacted with students in their classrooms, and explored the school’s outdoor learning facilities.
The tour concluded at Kew An Lergh, where the delegation met local entrepreneurs and community members at the newly inaugurated Nansledan Community Centre. The development embodies Newquay’s vision of integrating sustainability with business and urban planning.
