VIDEO: Diver sets world record after underwater walk of 370ft
Amber Bourke sets Guinness World Record for longest underwater walk in one breath by a female diver
An Australian diver has set a record as she walked 370 feet underwater along the bottom of a swimming pool in one breath.
Amber Bourke, a diver from Queensland, walked more than the length of an American football field as she achieved the record for the longest walk in one breath by a female.
In a clip shared by Guinness World Records on their Instagram account, the diver can be seen walking along the bottom of the pool with her hips bent, setting her body at a 90-degree angle. Her torso was flat but it was her feet that did all the work.
The diver stumbled a few times but luckily regained her feet and kept going, as per the Guinness World Records.
When she reached the end of the pool, she tapped her hands and feet against the wall and turned around, continuing her feat in the other direction.
She completed two full laps at the bottom of the pool and a bit more before she came up for air. As she was still in the pool and tried to catch her breath, the distance was measured and announced it was “a new world record”.
“I am a freediving instructor and have been freediving for over 10 years. I wanted to do this both for my own sense of achievement — it has always been a dream of mine to hold a Guinness World Records title — and also to raise money for the Australian Marine Conservation Society in the process,” Bourke said.
