Bob Bertles passes away at 85 after battling poor health for years
Beloved Australian jazz musician Bob Bertles died at the age of 85 after being in poor health for several years.
The veteran musician, who was born in Melbourne in 1939, was known for his performance as a saxophonist in Australia for about seven decades.
His death was confirmed by a family friend, who took to social media to share a heartbreaking post, captioned, "Very saddened by the passing of alto and baritone saxophonist Bob Bertles, a major veteran figure in the Australian jazz scene.
"A truly gentle spirit in every sense. Condolences to his wife, Nancye."
Fans thronged the comments section with heartbreaking comments for the late musician.
One fan commented, "Rest peacefully Bob. Thanks for all that wonderful music. You live forever in our hearts and souls."
Another chimed in, adding, "A gifted musician with a huge heart. thank you Bob. Condolences to your beautiful wife."
The musician took a brief hiatus in 1958 following his recruitment by veteran Australian rockstar Johnny O'Keefe. During this time, Bertles delivered performances with his band The Dee Jays across the country.
His successful career comprised several performances alongside well-known artists in the industry.
