Escapee spider monkey returned to owners by Animal Care Services
Animal care officers in Texas were called in to catch an unusual escaped pet in a neighbourhood and it was a spider monkey.
The San Antonio Animal Care Services were summoned on Tuesday to a neighbourhood in the area of Poteet and Jourdanton which is 13 miles south of the city after a monkey was reported running loose through a residential area, as per UPI.
The rescuers arrived and saw the small illegal house pet running across rooftops and vaulting over fences, wreaking complete havoc in the neighbourhood.
The monkey was captured safely and returned to the owners who do not live in the area, said the ACS.
The officers told the owners that it is not legal to keep exotic animals in the area and they were issued five criminal citations for the offence.
The owners received two of the citations for possession of a prohibited animal and for bringing another monkey to reclaim the escapee monkey with them.
One citation was issued for a roaming animal, another for lack of a rabies vaccine and one more for the lack of a microchip, according to KSAT.
