Selena Gomez has recently hinted at the end of “pop star” life amid her engagement with Benny Blanco.
Speaking on Variety Actors on Actors with Saoirse Ronan, the Only Murders in the Building actress opened up that music might take the backseat as she now wanted to focus on acting
“I love storytelling, and my music career is separate,” said the 32-year-old.
Selena told Saoirse, “I don’t see that being always forever thing professionally.”
However, the Emilia Pérez star noted that music would always be her constant because of her now fiancé and music producer Benny.
“I’ll always have music in my life because my partner’s a musician,” admitted Selena.
The actress and singer continued, “And I love singing and writing and having moments to do it for fun.”
Selena believed that music is “personal” where you “can be a little vulnerable” when “you are putting yourself out there” versus playing a character where “you can play someone else”.
Meanwhile, Selena called acting her “strong suit” and opened up that she’s “now a little too old for the pop-star life”.
“I definitely think my strong suit is probably acting,” stated the Calm Down singer.
She pointed out, “I’m proud of in music is being able to tell a story”.
“My favourite songs are mostly ballads, and they’re very transparent and honest. But I think I might be a little too old for the pop star life,” she added.
In the end, Selena said, “I’m genuinely so happy to just be in this new era of my life because in a lot of ways, it’s just the beginning.”
