Shawn Mendes breaks silence on Sabrina Carpenter, Camila Cabello love triangle
Shawn Mendes talks about ‘unresolved’ love triangle with Sabrina Carpenter, Camila Cabello
Shawn Mendes seems to have broken silence on his famous love triangle with Sabrina Carpenter and Camila Cabello.
In a preview for Thursday’s episode of How’s Life, John Mayer’s SiriusXM show, Mendes opened up about navigating complicated relationship dynamics.
The Señorita singer shared his experience of reconnecting with an ex-girlfriend while still dating someone else, revealing he was dealing with lingering emotions.
“Two days before going to hang with my ex, [I] express I’m going to hang with my ex because I have unresolved feelings,” Mendes admitted in the clip.
Reflecting on the situation, the 25-year-old singer added, “Maybe instead of two days, I could have told her two weeks ahead of time.”
Mayer then questioned Mendes, asking, “Is there something in all of this that you could say, ‘Yeah, I played that wrong?’”
Mendes, acknowledging the lessons learned from the experience, shared, “No one gets out of this life without getting hurt, and no one gets out of this life without hurting someone.”
While Mendes refrained from naming any individuals involved, fans speculate the story could be connected to his on-again, off-again relationship with Camila Cabello.
The two singers originally dated from 2019 to 2021 before sparking reunion rumors in 2023. During that same period, Mendes was linked to actress and singer Sabrina Carpenter.
Mendes and Carpenter were first spotted together in Los Angeles around Valentine’s Day. However, shortly after, Mendes and Cabello made headlines for their public kiss at Coachella in April and a date night at Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concert in May.
Though Mendes and Cabello ultimately parted ways again, both women appeared to respond to the rumored love triangle through their music.
Carpenter seemingly alluded to the situation in her song Taste, singing, “I heard you’re back together and if that’s true / You’ll just have to taste me when he’s kissin’ you.”
Cabello also shared her perspective with a subtle nod on TikTok, where she lip-synced lyrics from her song June Gloom, “She’s cool, I heard / Won’t act surprised, I saw the pictures. We’re a house fire, for sure / Hope it’ll burn out, but it just gets bigger.”
