Actress Olivia Wilde, who turned into a director, has opened why she never cared for being loved or accepted in the entertainment industry.
According to Olivia, directors and filmmakers often, at a certain point, forget whether they want to be an artist or a celebrity.
She explained at the Red Sea Film Festival: “Directors have to decide at a certain point do you want to be a celebrity or an artist.”
House actress further stated: “Because of social media, it’s becoming even more combined to something that is quite dangerous for the art form.
When there comes a conflict between the choice of acting and filmmaking that is when you give up taking any sort of risks, says the American star.
In a statement, Wilde said: “When you conflate filmmaking or acting with large scale acceptance, you immediately cut off every opportunity to do any risky work.”
Hence, the 40-year-old unveiled: “So it was important to me to never become overly focused on being accepted or loved."
Olivia Wilde made her directorial debut in 2019 with Booksmart. The last film she directed was 2022s Don’t Worry Darling, in which she also played a vital role. The film also featured his ex-boyfriend Harry Styles.
