Chase Stokes, the actor behind John B., the charismatic leader of the Pogues, has confirmed that the beloved Netflix series Outer Banks will conclude with its fifth season.
On Monday, November 4, Stokes shared a joint statement from the show's co-creators, Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke, along with his own heartfelt message.
"My heart's heavy writing this one... One last ride. Thank you to everybody who has tuned in these past 5 years. You've given us more than we could ever give back to you," Stokes wrote, ending with "It's always gonna be Pogues 4 Life."
The announcement comes just days before the second half of season 4 premieres on Netflix on Thursday, November 7.
In their statement, the co-creators reflected on the challenges and rewards of producing season 4. "The season ends with a feature-length episode, which we think is our best, most powerful episode. We hope you feel the same way."
They also shared their vision for the final season: "Season Five will be our last season, and we think it will be our best yet. We hope you'll join us for one more paddle out to the surf break."
Stokes has consistently expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to be part of Outer Banks. In a September interview with People magazine, he credited the show as a turning point in his career.
"You can't slap the hand that fed you," Stokes said. "You can't discredit or disrespect the thing that gave you not just the opportunity, but the ability to live a life that I never thought was possible."
He reiterated his appreciation for the series, saying, "I would never mock the show that gave me the opportunity to have the life that I have. I will always be grateful for this show and for our showrunners to take a chance on a kid who had little to no credits on his resume."
As fans prepare for the final season, they can look forward to Stokes' upcoming film projects, Marked Men and Valiant One, set for release in early 2025.
