Escapee kangaroo scared by bear seen hopping on Florida roads
"Not located yet but we have been in contact with the owner and are keeping our eyes peeled," says town sheriff
A bear entered the enclosure of a kangaroo in Florida, now it is on the run prompting authorities to search for the escaped animal.
After a kangaroo was spotted hopping and on the loose in Volusia, Sheriff Mike Chitwood, said on social media "Pierson is hopping".
“Just when you think you’ve seen it all. The Town of Pierson is hopping tonight,” he wrote on X.
The sheriff added a screenshot taken from the "Pierson Community Page" on Facebook which shows a kangaroo hopping along a road.
Chitwood added under the post in a comment stating that the kangaroo reportedly escaped when a bear wandered in its enclosure.
"The kangaroo reportedly escaped due to a bear entering its enclosure. Not located yet but we have been in contact with the owner and are keeping our eyes peeled," he wrote as quoted by UPI.
Kangaroos are known to remain close to their enclosures or homes if they end up escaping leading to an official of Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, who is searching for the escapee marsupial, saying that the animal is likely near to its owner’s property in Pierson.
"I mean, we live out in the woods; you see bears, you see deer — you don't see a kangaroo. It's supposed to be at the zoo," a woman who lives in Pierson told Fox 35.
"I mean, it's kind of cool that there's somebody out here that has an exotic animal, you know?" she added.
