Ryan Gosling's iconic portrayal of Ken in the Barbie film has put him in a strong negotiating position for the sequel. According to sources, Gosling is seeking a significant pay increase.
"Ryan understands just how integral Ken became to the film's popularity," an insider told Life & Style. "He knows the impact he had on audiences and is making it clear the sequel won't be the same without him."
Gosling reportedly earned $12.5 million for the first film, while co-star Margot Robbie took home $50 million, including profits.
The sequel's fate hangs in the balance as negotiations continue. "The sequel hinges on these high-stakes discussions," the source added. "One thing is clear — Ken's value has skyrocketed!"
In separate news, Eva Mendes, Gosling's partner, revealed their children's adorable nickname for him: "Papi," a nod to her Cuban heritage.
Mendes shared, "You know what… Sometimes, I tell him that he is more Cuban than me. He has a Cuban inside that I can't explain. The girls call him Papi, not Dad. In his essence, he has assimilated the Cubanness so strongly that I have."
