Nicole Kidman opens up about her experience with former husband Tom Cruise in Eyes Wide Shut 25 years later
Nicole Kidman has recently recalled her experience of working with former husband Tom Cruise in Eyes Wide Shut.
To mark 25th anniversary of Stanley Kubrick directed movie, Nicole spoke to Los Angeles Times and explained how Stanley took inspiration from her and Tom’s relationship at the time.
“I suppose he was mining it,” said the Australia actress, who was married to Tom for 10 years until their 2001 split.
Nicole told the outlet, “There were ideas he was interested in. He’d ask a lot of questions. But he had a strong sense of the story he was telling. I do remember him saying, ‘Triangles are hard. You have to tread carefully when it’s a triangle.’”
The Oscar winner noted, “Because one person could feel ganged up on. But he was aware of that and knew how to manage us.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Nicole, who shares two children with Mission Impossible actor, pointed out that she and her former partner had their “own relationship with their director”.
“There’s something about being a woman in that equation, too,” continued Far And Away actress.
Nicole mentioned, “Stanley liked women. He had a different relationship with Tom. They worked more closely together on his character.”
Meanwhile, the Bombshell actress also praised Stanley, adding, “We (Nicole and Tom) loved working with him. We shot that for two years. We had two kids and were living in a trailer on the lot primarily, making spaghetti because Stanley liked to eat with us sometimes.”
“We were working with the greatest filmmaker and learning about our lives and enjoying our lives on set,” she stated.
