Jennifer Lopez wedges rift between childhood pals Ben Affleck, Matt Damon
Ben Affleck’s friendship with Matt Damon marred by Jennifer Lopez marital woes
The distance between once-inseparable besties, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, appears to be growing as Affleck marital woes with Jennifer Lopez escalates.
According to an insider quoted by InTouch Weekly, Damon is distancing himself from Affleck as he preferring friends with less marital drama, like Emily Blunt and John Krasinski.
“When it comes to couples’ time, there’s just a lot less drama for Matt and Lucy when they’re hanging out with Emily and John than during the increasingly rare times that they get to sit down and hang out with Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez,” the source told the outlet.
The insider explained that because Lopez presents herself as a diva, it is hard for Affleck’s friends to be comfortable around her.
“Just because of the way Jennifer conducts herself, even around her friends, she’s a very hard person to let your guard down around, whereas John and Emily are the definition of easy-going.”
However, Affleck and Damon are best friends since they were in high school together. The two have shared many ups and downs, but Damon is not interested in getting near the marital drama that is ongoing between him and Lopez.
The insider noted that the duo will “always be friends and business partners,” but Damon is “under no obligation to be part of Ben’s personal pity party over whatever problems he’s having with Jennifer or his kids.”
“Ben has to deal with that stuff himself, and that’s always been Matt and Lucy’s position, even during the best of times,” the source noted of their dynamics.
Affleck and Lopez are swarmed by divorce rumours after the outlet published a report in mid-May that the couple were unable to make their marriage work.
