Sophie Turner reflects on mental health struggles: ‘I isolate myself’
Sophie Turner admitted that she suffers from anxiety and depression but has learned how to cope
Sophie Turner’s mental health struggles improved once she took on motherhood.
Appearing on The Run-Through with Vogue podcast, the 28-year-old actress admitted that she often struggles with debilitating anxiety and depression, which also translated into poor eating habits and body image issues.
“My problem is that I would isolate if I ever felt triggered… or depressed,” Turner admitted.
The mom-of-two – who shares two young daughters with ex-husband Joe Jonas – reflected about how she would never ask for help when going through “days [or] weeks-long ruts.”
But these days, she admitted, she always makes sure to “reach out to a friend.”
“I have these moments all the time where I get overwhelmed and anxious and depressed, and I pick up the phone to my friends, and I can get over it in about 20 minutes,” she shared, adding that she’s “been very therapised.”
The Game of Thrones alum further admitted that she used to have stretches of time of “eating poorly or not eating at all.”
But when she first became pregnant in 2019 and then again in 2021, something clicked.
“My body fed my child in my tummy, and it gave birth to the most amazing kids, the loves of my life,” she reflected.
