When we think of dangerous and deadly animals, our minds often go to lions, sharks, or elephants. However, these creatures are not the leading cause of death for humans. It may come as a shock to learn that humans themselves are the deadliest animals within their own species, Discover Magazine reported.
Here is a list of the creatures that kill most humans
Mosquitoes
These tiny flies are the most fatal animals for humans. According to Wikipedia, mosquito-borne diseases or illnesses kill nearly 700 million people each year.
Diseases include malaria, dengue fever, and yellow fever among others.
Snakes
According to the World Health Organization, an estimated 5.4 million people worldwide are bitten by snakes each year out of which around 81,410 to 137,880 people die due to it.
Ascaris roundworm
This parasite is found in the intestines of humans and may cause malnutrition, and infection among others.
According to the National Institute of Health, approximately 1300 million people get infected with this parasite which causes around 10,000 deaths each year.
Dogs
Dogs may be a man’s best friend but they can also bite you in the back. Dog bites can transmit the incurable rabies virus.
Freshwater snails
These snails carry a parasite disease called schistosomiasis, which infects some 250 million people and is mostly found in tropical regions of Asia, Africa, and South America.
